Amazonite is an easy effortless semiprecious stone.

Anyone that has read any of my blog posts before knows I love Amazonite. It is my absolute favorite semiprecious stone. I love it so much!!!

I could probably write a whole blog post on why it’s named after the Amazon River, what’s it made up of and where it is found. But today I’m going to talk about it’s properties, and colors and why I think it’s the most easy effortless stone to both work with and wear.

Amazonite has been used for centuries, in jewelry, statues and amulets. It’s appreciated for it’s beauty and it’s beneficial properties. It’s been said in the 10th century South America, women used it to cure illnesses, adorn their shields and heal wounds. I’ve seen it called “The Amazon Stone”, the “Stone of Hope”, the “Stone of Truth” and the “Stone of Courage”. It is said to said to have a calming effect on the soul. It imparts balance and harmony and quiets the mind.

It is empowering, facilitating self-discovery, self-awareness and the ability to embrace one’s own integrity and truths. Amazonite powers bolster the confidence to shrug off fear of confrontation or harsh judgment from others while living according to one’s own values and beliefs, all of which is included in amazonite meaning.

It is also said to give the wearer strength to confidently express themselves. You should wear when taking a test, going to a job interview or on a date. Anything that makes you feel confident in your own skin is what True Happiness Designs is all about.

Why I like it:

As you can see by the first picture Amazonite comes in different colors, plain milky blue, blue and black and Rainbow Amazonite which has shades anywhere from yellow, pinks, blues, greens, beiges, browns to blacks and that’s what I use 90% of the time. It’s so effortless because it can be used in so many ways. And the second picture is my favorite shape, rondelle. Like a circle that someone squished and made it short and fat.

True Happiness Designs is all about simple effortless looks. Life can be stressful, looking good shouldn’t be. I create all of my designs to be worn with multiple outfits for multiple women. Wear them anyway you want, because you are awesome just the way you are.

All of these outfits are casual, comfortable and effortless. They are simple but upscale for everyday life. And I think everyone one of them would look good with a True Happiness Designs piece of jewelry either around their neck, on their wrist or hanging from their ears. I actually think the bottom left picture might have Amazonite in the necklace. It’s hard to tell.  Could be Aquamarine…

People are selling keywords

This is going to be a short post, more a puzzling insight I guess. So I am trying to update my Etsy listings with keywords in the titles. Not sure if it’s the right thing to do, but I read somewhere that it is, so why not try it I guess…

So I searched “jewelry listings with keywords in the title” just to kind get an idea on how to do it. See how everyone else is doing it. Is there a right way or a wrong way kind of thing.

So up pops 8 listings for keywords. I think this is crazy. From $4.99-$9.99. Now I am not cheap and I fully believe in paying for things that don’t come easy to you. Someone else to take pictures or write copy etc… I’m all for it. But honestly you can find keywords so easily for free!!! And again, there is no judgement here at all. I am just kinda shocked that there are people out there that will pay $10 for free words that you can Google. I found a whole alphabet full of beach words I can use as keywords or hashtags, FOR FREE!

The world surprised me everyday…

I am in love with these beads…

So a few years back I bought these gemstones on The description says “tricolor jade” I don’t usually go for pinks and reds. I almost exclusively use blues, greens and browns. But these are just absolutely gorgeous! Check them out.

They are stunning. I also don’t usually go for such bright colors, but I just can’t help myself. The shape are rondelles, like flattened circles. This is called graduated rondelles because I think “multi sized” rondelles doesn’t sound half as sexy…

I have a few beads left. But for about 2 years now I have been searching for more and can’t find them. I have found strands of round beads, and they are just as gorgeous, but rondelles are just more me, I love them and use them A LOT.

Probably my all time favorite piece, I wear it all the time. Here are a few more pictures of jewelry I have made using rondelles.

But I just have to keep trying, because I have looked on every bead site, contacted as many buyers as I can and still nothing.

New Year, Fresh Start

Sort of…

Quick back story, we lived in our old house for 15 years. It was the perfect size before we had kids. But after 2 kids, my husband and I shared an office and there was no playroom for all of their stuff. The house was getting smaller by the minute, plus it was on the other side of town from the kids school (our town has school choice) and there were no kids around to play with. We always wanted to move to the other side of town in a fun family neighborhood. Well we moved a year and a half ago. It’s such a great neighborhood and they are on the bus for about 20 mins each. And it’s bigger than our old house, but it’s a lot older (by almost 30 years) so it needs a lot, A LOT, of updating and the layout of the house isn’t great. But we knew what we were getting into and got it for a great price in our town.

So, fast forward. my husband and I share an office (and a long desk) but I do my jewelry stuff (definitely not worthy of calling it a studio…) in the kids playroom. Which isn’t very big, it’s the smallest bedroom in the house. So things were getting really cramped for everyone. Our living room is pretty big, but we also have a family room, so usually only the kids use the living room (even though I am typing this in the living room…) So my husband was kind enough to offer to move his desk into the living room (he is very close to securing a facility in our town to open a recycling business ) because he won’t be home as often as before. And I can move all of my jewelry stuff into the office and have a real office/studio!!! I said no at first, because I know it’s not a great scenario for him. But he kept insisting, so I kept getting excited!

First we started cleaning, cleaning out and moving things around! Our friend who works for Comcast was kind enough to come over and splice a jack in the living room so my husband can have his printer, postage meter and the office line. I washed floors and moved all the storage things I need. I am going to have two desks, one sturdy one for hammering, soldering, creating…and one for my laptop and to work out designs. I moved the sturdier desk and filled all the drawers, and I am really looking forward to having my own space. Well the crappy desk I bought forever ago because it fit the playroom, can’t leave the playroom because it’s L shaped, the hallway is too narrow and it’s crappy! So now my office/studio is still in disarray because I don’t have my second desk to put things away.

My husband’s desk area is finished and neat. And I am happy about that, because it was his idea in the first place and I know he will realize soon enough that this situation kinda sucks for him. But I am losing my New Year, Fresh Start momentum. I am determined to grow my business in 2017, but this is an annoyance. Like if you were trail running in a beautiful place and a random tree limb hits you right in the face, annoyance. But I will forge on.

Here are some pictures of my husband’s neat organized desk and my office mess for you to enjoy.  (don’t look at the walls in the office there’s enough wood in there to build another house. But he’s done enough, I can’t ask him to paint too.)living-room

His just looks so productive! Now here’s mine.

Have a nice day, anyone who is reading this.

It’s getting hot again up here. The Northeast (well at least Massachusetts anyway) has been hot this summer!!! Not sure what the exact number of 90 degree days is since summer started, or the average humidity level, but I am not a fan! My perfect day would be 68-74 degrees and zero humidity. I know I should live in California or something, but I am still here not only in Massachusetts but in the same town I was born in. And every summer seems to get hotter and hotter.

Fall is my favorite time of year, from say the 3rd week in September to Thanksgiving. Sometimes even later into December. When you can wear what you want and be comfortable. I love cool mornings ( my kids don’t, but I do) then a nice sunny crisp day and chilly nights with a blanket. I love it. I never thought I would say I prefer winter over summer, but this year it’s easy to say. I can pile on the clothes in the winter, but I couldn’t go walking around in a bathing suit (or less…) in the summer. So while I am not trying to wish away time, I am longing for days where these cute outfits I found on Pinterest make me excited to get up and get dressed. What I am doing now is dreading putting on another pair of shorts!

This looks cute and comfy. The pin said it was saved from, not sure what that is, but want to give credit where credit is due.

I love this outfit! She looks slimmer than I am, so I probably wouldn’t look half as cool and casual as she does walking down the street with my 1,000 calorie Starbucks drink. But I’d be willing to try…

Spring Fashion For Under $100

Not sure where the middle pin came from, I might get in trouble for that. But this one is from

I think that bag is to big and too structured for me, I use a bag only because I would look foolish carrying everything in my pockets. But she looks so comfortable and cute! I may be past the age of looking cute, but lately it seems that the most I am doing in one day is running errands or watching kids sports and I think this outfit would be perfect in the fall. I would probably wear one of pieces because they are mine and I like them.

I guess what I am really trying to say in this mini rant is I am just dying to wear pants again!

Spring please come soon!!!

So it’s snowing again up here in the Northeast…and the kids are out of school again. I am trying really hard to just go w/ the flow because there is nothing that you can do about it. But’s wearing on me, a lot. I haven’t been able to run or even walk outside for weeks!!! The treadmill is not my friend and I don’t want to be it’s friend either. It will come at some point I know, but I just wish it would be warm enough for the snow to start melting. Warm enough that I don’t have to start the car before I get in it. This is crazy.

Anyway, I did get a chance to make a few new pieces of jewelry yesterday. I just haven’t had the chance to take pictures of them yet. Hopefully today if my kids make it outside to play, hopefully.

But on another note I just read this post

and I might be trekking my kids to Old Navy to spend some money!!! I love Old Navy, their stuff is stylish, affordable and usually comfortable! Their workout gear is great. So check it out.
